I Didn't Realize That Picture Framing Was So Expensive

I bought a medium sized piece of hand-painted original art in Nepal but it wasn't framed. So I ventured over to Michael's Crafts today and was gobsmacked at how expensive custom framing was. I have no skills in that area. I butchered a framing job on a piece I bought in Dubrovnik, Croatia so I won't try that again. So I paid what I thought was a high price to have it over and done with and be able to display it in my laundry room which is my travel art room where I hang all my artwork I bring back from my travels. Have you had anything framed lately? Was it expensive?

I had something framed decades ago; and it was horribly expensive.

Regardless where you have something matted and framed, it is costly. But, once it is done, it is sealed and lasts perfectly for decades. I had a couple of cross stitch pieces matted and framed 30 years ang and they still look great and I had our son as well as his wife's university graduation diplomas matted and framed, and as expensive as it was, I gave them as Christmas gifts and they are still very thankful for me having them done. The diplomas were in the $500 neighbourhood I believe and that was 8 or 9 years ago.

I think custom framing prices can be outrageously expensive

It has been many years since I've had anything framed and it wasn't cheap back then
