It's been quite a weekend and I've rarely been home.
I got everything done Friday. Super proud and happy that that happened. It rarely does and I got lucky.
Saturday was training. Four hours instead of two and we played with real fire. The burn trailer is run on propane so after we smelled like the propane we were playing with. For the first time in the four years and two months I've been in and the five years my husband has been in, my husband and I were paired up in training. We don't make that a habit.
We had three evolutions and then anyone who wanted to go in would go in. After that we had the rollover experience. It was enlightening. Plus my who likes fire goes ooo pretty lol. It truly did look like water on the ceiling.
Sunday we went up to put all our new water supply equipment on all the trucks. That's 12 engines in one day. We figured we put up a total of 12,000 feet of hose total. We finally get done and the last hose gets put up all pretty and our training officer goes we're gunna get a big one tonight. Not one minute after he said that do the tones drop.
What gets me is that most of the people that were at the main still helping with the hose went. We were in district so we could go. However the only other person from our station that came to help just left. He didn't come to the fire. I was looking after the fire to see who actually showed up and it was disappointing that he won't help anyone outside of our area. I was actually surprised to see him there helping with the hose in general. That's actually really sad.
So needless to say, this morning I'm sore and hurting. That was enough adrenaline for the weekend.
I got quite a few orders finished before we left yesterday so that's a plus. I have them scheduled for pick up today at 4.
Then there's also the reviews that I have to do today. I finally finished the ARC of Carrie Ann Ryan's and I'm excited to do those. It was really good and I loved the end of it.
A little more of the puzzle got done but not much. It's going to take more time than I thought when we bought it. The pieces are weird and I just need to take a step back from it every now and then to figure it out. It seems to help.
It's not football season but it is trade and draft season so those posts will be starting up again. The draft will be next month and I'm super excited.
Oh well, I need more coffee. A lot more.
What are you up to today?
