Is Carpeting a Thing of the Past Now?

It seems like everybody has hardwood, vinyl planking, or laminate floors now. Is carpeting no longer a thing? My house was built 21 years ago and has carpeting in the living room, office room, and two bedrooms. The kitchen and dining room are hardwood. We need new flooring within the next 2-3 years and can't decide whether to replace the existing carpeting with vinyl planking or carpeting. They say carpet leads to allergies and is harder to keep clean and wears quicker. What do you think about carpeting?

I prefer carpeting, but hard floors seem to be increasingly popular

For us..we need no carpet with the allergies. Some places are doing that now.

The first thing I did when I bought this house was rip the carpet out and replace it with vinyl flooring. Allergies are the primary reason, but it’s also so easy to clean the floors.

I like it for the extra warmth. But it does take more to clean. I need to shampoo mine this summer.

I just replaced the only carpet in my house (the stairs and upstairs hallway) with laminate. It looks so much better and is way easier to keep clean. I wish I had done it sooner.

My home? I have hardwood flooring and vinyl planks in the bathrooms. The rental property? Whatever is the cheapest that looks nice because when they move I usually have to replace it.

I got rid of ALL my carpet cause it holds grit, dirt, fur, fleas, & it's not worth the $ to have carpet that does nothing but gets you sick later on ion life.
