Boss Gave A Bonus

The boss gave us all a bonus after our shift ended. It was $20 in cash per person. I think he felt guilty for raging on us. He's clearly an introvert so shouting at the top of his lungs like that seemed against his nature. Well, a bonus is better than nothing. I will put that $20 away for my passport fund. I have a day off, but I have a freelance job today. A four hour shift this afternoon in a private setting working for a hostess and host I have worked for in the past. This will be the fourth time. My freelance boss knows that I have a full-time job now so I appreciate that he still called me on my day off and asked me if I wanted to work a shift. One of the waitresses called in sick and the catering company needs a replacement for today. I am more than willing to work today since I was only planning on staying home today anyway. As per my previous three experiences working for this hostess and host, I will be given free food for dinner so I don't have to waste money on ordering food. I look forward to my shift today.

$20? That's not a lot in today's economy.

What’s a passport fund? Congrats on the $20! Not a lot but better than nothing.

@lilacskies Wow! That’s expensive. Don’t remember how much I paid when I renewed mine. Hope your pictures are good. First ones we took when renewing were done at the pharmacy and they were no good. We were told we had to retake them. Did that at the post office and those were accepted.

@lovebuglena I know, right? I had to make a separate savings fund just for the passport. The pictures themselves cost me $30 and they were done at the pharmacy as well. Fortunately, they will be accepted because my family did the same and theirs were accepted when they got their own passports. I never traveled before and had no money to previously, but I hope to within this year. That is so costly. So you had to pay twice? How much did you pay for your passport pictures at the pharmacy and then at the post office?

I am getting a passport this year. My first one ever. I made a savings fund to get one since it's really expensive. It's $325 and lasts 10 years before renewal. At least that was what I was quoted when I inquired about it while taking my passport pictures. The pictures cost me $30. I received 2 for that price. Thank you. Yes, he didn't have to give it, but he did so better than nothing!

Sounds like a great bonus gig for you! Especially if you don’t mind the extra work.

Yes, I am definitely keeping my freelance job on the side. Every penny counts. Besides, it's only four hours. I am getting some rest until I have to get ready for my shift.

A bonus is a bonus! I never looked forward to doing extra shifts, but some food would sweeten the deal

i'm glad you can count on these people, as trustful employers. 20 dollars is fine but he could give some extra for that shouting i also hope you survived

Yes, that is good at least. Haha I know, right? It's better than nothing though. The previous boss used to scream at us and send us home after work with no bonus at all. Thank you. I survived.

Thank you. My shift ended hours ago. I ate an European taffy dessert thing I don't know the name of and that's it.
