Yet another Bengali sweet soaked in sugar syrup. It is made from Mawa that can be either bought or made at home. Soaked in sugar syrup it is meant for those who have a swet tooth like me. They are sold in sealed tins. Here is the recipe for those who wish to try making them at home https://www.istockphoto.com/photo/rasgulla-an-indian-sweet-gm482375068-69988007?searchscope=image%2Cfilm Image credit:

That sounds like such a delightful treat from your place! I got curious and did a little research on Rasgulla, and here’s what I found: "Rasgulla is a popular Indian dessert made from soft, spongy balls of chhena (Indian cottage cheese) and semolina dough, cooked in a light sugar syrup. It originates from the eastern regions of India, particularly West Bengal and Odisha." I hope that describes it well! It sounds absolutely delicious, and I can only imagine how light and sweet it must taste. I hope you enjoyed every bite! I’d love to try it someday and experience its soft, melt-in-the-mouth goodness for myself.

@allknowing Maybe if I get to an Indian Mall here I might try to look for it and have a taste of it.

@rsa101 Since they are sold in tins they would stay fresh and can be marketed

They remind me of butter balls. I looked at the recipe though. They appear to have no butter in them

That sounds absolutely delightful! Bengali sweets are renowned for their rich flavors and textures, and anything soaked in sugar syrup is a treat for those with a sweet tooth. Mawa-based sweets are particularly decadent.

You seem to know a bit about these sweets. Have you tasted or made them youself?
