When is a geographic boundary not a boundary?

In explaining why he believes Canada should be "a cherished 51st state of the USA," trump explained that someone drew a line between the USA and Canada a long time ago and without that line Canada would be part of the USA.
It's a good thing all the lines between the states of the United States are not drawn in and are physically there otherwise the USA would be part of Mexico.

I thought by now, he would have re-drawn the line with his trusty black sharpie.
