I Need A New Therapist

My therapist is really kind. She told me to stop by her office anytime during business hours and talk to her receptionist about scheduling an appointment. Well, now that I have some money to afford her sessions again, I decided to do just that this morning. I went to see the receptionist. She recognized me and greeted me warmly which I appreciated. It's been a few years since we saw each other again.
I told her that I would like to schedule an appointment with my therapist for a solo therapy session. The receptionist told me that she switched over to group therapy. I asked her if she had any solo therapy sessions at all. She told me that she didn't. She had switched over to group therapy, but she didn't give me the reason. I thanked her and came back home disappointed. Now I have to find a new therapist who does solo therapy. She was the best therapist I had. I've had bad luck with my previous therapists. I hope I find someone as kind as her.

Me too. Thank you. My health insurance doesn't cover my therapists. I have to pay out of pocket.

@lilacskies would you be interested in ever doing the group therapy with her?

@shaggin I did once and nearly had a mental breakdown listening to everyone's stories. I left feeling worse than when I walked in. I will never do group therapy again. That was so traumatic. I still shudder just thinking about it.

Yes, it is so traumatizing. I would never ever participate in group therapy. It's so difficult for me to sit through listening to other people's trauma on top of sharing mine to a large group. I already went once. I came out feeling worse than when I went in.

That sucks, I can imagine how that would feel
if it was me & my Dr's if I couldn't see them
cause that means I would have to put my
trust in another Dr & that's not easy for me.

I know. I have been researching new therapists after coming home and haven't had much luck. I have a hard time finding a kind therapist who has empathy. The ones I had before made it very obvious that they were in it for the money and it was just work for them. I didn't like that. The kind therapist actually listened to what I had to say. I have to keep searching for a new one.
