Off kilter day

I don't want sympathy though you all are kind and generous in listening to me.
I don't know what to say. Nothing I can do about it. Just over eighty years ago my Mom had a baby girl. She is the oldest. I am the youngest. Eight kids so you can imagine how far apart sister and I are, in years, in our lives, in knowing each other.
This morning I got the message from another sister: Oldest has pancreatic cancer. Too far for chemo and such. Her daughter isn't sure if her Mom will be able to leave the hospital to go home for her remaining moments.
It is what it is. Their religion does not welcome me. They live too far in terms of traffic for me to visit- if I were welcome. Sister's daughters were not kind when I showed up at my Mom's funeral. Religion or not, they hounded me in ways about trifle matters. They should have known better, especially at a funeral and for my Mom.
I will continue to go about my day. I've swept floors. Maybe I'll do silly stuff like practice my simple drawings, write a little, start a note to daughter. Just stuff. Thanks for being here!

@TheHorse Yes plus the last time I was at the sister who used to be close to me, it felt like the South- creepy. Sister's hubby is a Trumper. A neighbor friend came over to 'chat' about T's good stuff going on. Sister steered me away. Stuff like that and then nasty behavior with another sister. In house family drama that crossed the lack of integrity line for me.

Sometimes childhood thoughts and memories are how we have to deal with older losses. Things that happened before people got polarized by opinions. Think of her sweetly when you do. I grew up with a wide spread family. If all siblings had survived, there would have been eight of us as well. Spread over about twenty five years.

@GardenGerty Thanks. I have few memories of this sister when I was younger. By then she was out and gone on adult things.

I’m sorry you have to endure this, especially with the “bad vibes.”
Praying for you.

@sallypup You're always welcome.
I was the next-to-the-youngest for 50 something odd years. My youngest brother passed away three years ago to a heart attack. There are only 4 of us left out of 16 now... Nothing surprises me anymore.

@DaddyEvil It's a lonesome feeling. The brother nearest to me passed about twenty years ago. He wasn't the same guy I knew growing up. I wish he hadn't been such a mean monster in those last days. Heart attack there, too, at 43. I'm sorry for your losses.

@DaddyEvil Thank you for your sweetness. You listen and that is plenty. I am the youngest so there will be more ahead- when I get word of it, that is.

That is so heartbreaking. I'm really sorry. I can't understand how some people can use religion to be cruel to others. You know we care about you here.

I think you can only pray for your sister but in no way put up with rude behaviour from her daughter.
