Chronic pain can hit anyone for any reason at any time. It can change at anytime as well, it can go away totally or just some symptoms at times forever, a few minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years.
One minute you could be fine and the next you could be in pain, having anxiety attacks, being stressed or tired.
The pain and symptoms can change depending on your medical issues, a fall, the weather, lighting, tempreture, air quality, your mood (stress, anxiety, being happy, etc), positions you sit, lay or stand.
But some people don't get it!........... " She was fine a minute ago, then all of the sudden she was in pain."
Methods that make a person with Chronic Pain can change and differ too. For example heat and sleeping with many blankets helps me with some pain. But the weather changes or one of my symptoms al of the sudden change and then they don't help.
So please be understanding to these people.

I understand very well. I have arthrosis. The only thing that can be done is to take pain pills as arthrosis won´t go away. The illness is among a list in my country that is helped by the government. The government pays for the doctor and gives free meds. Besides that the government gives therapy for just a small price.

@dfollin Arthrosis is not curable. So they can only help with pain relievers and some therapy.

@marguicha I know most of the medical issues I have are not curable and can only be maintained. It's a rough road!
Praying for you my friend!

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful and sweet post. Chronic pain is a daily struggle. I can be okay one hour and in so much pain the next and then feel better again over and over again. It's frustrating, but it is what it is.

@lilacskies Exactly! The physical illnesses can cause mental ones too! Some of my physical illnesses happened when I was attacked years ago which also caused me to get PTSD. Also people acting that way towards me make the PTSD worse and they just don't get it.

Your welcome! I know how it is and it is frustrating! But we have no choice but to deal with it and try to make the best of it. I have people in my life that have other types of medical issues and think that there is no way that mine can be as bad as theirs.

@dfollin I know. It is so frustrating on a daily basis. We just have no choice. We just try our best everyday. I have some people in my life like that too. They are the type of who thinks the world revolves around them. I have both mental and physical illnesses, and chronic pain is a daily struggle for me.

A lot of chronic pain suffers also go out of their way to hide it, too. So, I think when a person shows their pain, it catches people off guard. I am one of those who've learned to ignore my milder symptoms. But, when something hurts long enough or bad enough it's hard to hide.

@dfollin Well, yes and no. Depends on what the pain is, and if there's really anything you can do about it. There are only so many options for pain relief, and some pain, isn't as bad as it may feel. If you stub your toe, it hurts for a bit, but calms down. And if you're a person who has persistant pain, ignoring it is okay, because you know what it is. Like, I know if I'm going to be in my wheelchair all day, after a few hours it's going to hurt. Also, pain meds aren't instant. If I take them, I know that it'll be a half hour at least, if I feel any relief.
Each person treats things differently, and I think as people we learn to know what we can ignore and what we can't. We don't need to be running to the doctor for every stubbed toe, or every headache. Aches and pains are part of life. Chronic only means, you've had a long lasting persistant condition.

Oh, having suffered from on and off back pain for years now, I totally agree with you. Somedays I'm fine even for weeks and then all of a sudden, I bend down the wrong way and my back seizes up and I'm in pain for days. Doing any activity in cold weather can also cause my back to go out of whack.
Pain can definitely affect your quality of life in a big way!

@dgobucks226 I know what you mean. I cannot sit or stand a long time. For instance if I am standing at the bus stop I start pacing. If I am on the computer or something sitting down, I have to get up every 10 to 20 minutes and walk around.

@dfollin If I'm sitting a long time at the computer and get up, it can bother me, or bending and lifting things is not good either. I had it for many years now, but it has gotten worse recently after a fall I had.

I am vitamin D deficient as well! Do you take vitamin's and other supplements? The vitamin D deficiency makes me weaker and slow some. It also causes my hair to fall out more.
