There’s nothing quite like getting lost in a great book! Whether it’s a thrilling mystery, an inspiring biography, or a heartwarming novel, books have the power to transport us to different worlds and change our perspectives. I have not been reading books for a long time and since I don't have a library close by I now plan to buy books. Am looking online for recommendations. I prefer reading crime stories and thrillers. How about you? What’s a book you’ve read recently that you think others should check out? What did you love about it? Let’s swap recommendations! Pic is mine created on Canva

I read a lot but mostly science fiction or fantasy books. Once in a while I'll read a mystery but haven't read one in a long time.

@mayka123 That's too bad... Do you read ebooks? I had to switch to ebooks when we moved into this house. It's too small so we packed all our books into plastic totes and stored them in the garage. I use Kindle Cloud to store my ebooks and get free ebooks from Amazon all the time. Amazon offers the first ebook in a series for free and then you can buy more of the series if you like it. I have several thousand ebooks in the Kindle Cloud that I've read and about a dozen that I haven't read yet. There are also other sites online that offer ebooks for free, too.

@DaddyEvil I have heard of sites that offer free ebooks but have not researched as yet. I spend about 12 hours on my laptop daily for my work so not sure if I want to read books online. Though I know I will get to read a lot more books for free. I had started to read The Promise by Danielle Steele on my old laptop but when I switched over to the new laptop I could not find the site which I had bookmarked.

"Framed" by John Grisham and Jim McCloskey. It is true stories about people wrongly convicted of crimes and how they spent years in prison before evidence was found that proved their innocence. They were then released from prison. All the cases happened in the USA. It is a very eye opening and alarming book.

@MarkPaul Something on similar lines I think was the movie "The Sentence". I have heard a lot about it but it is not available to watch in my country.

I liked the book 'Rocky III" since the story was the lead character in the book became a boxing champion and he had to deal with the pressures of being a businessman instead of a boxing champion when a boxer challenged the champ to a boxing match.

You might be aware of Agatha Christie. Else I would recommend author Michael Connelly (one of his main characters is Harry Bosch). I have read two of his works : "The Lost Light" and "The Narrows". And well, then there is Robert Ludlum ( remember : Jason Bourne : The Bourne series?). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Ludlum

I completed Jeffrey Archer's "Only Time Will Tell" in January. It is another of gripping tales set in the UK : 20th century between the two wars which bears the trademark style of Jeffrey Archer. I had planned to share a personal review here but it is still pending. Sharing an image here which I took from mobile. Now reading a book related to Share Trading, where I am learning some finer technical terms related to trading.

Many of my friends have suggested this book and I definitely want to read it. I have read all of Jeffrey Archer books published in the 70s and 80s. I was browsing his website for his list of books and they all seem interesting.

I bought the Alex Delaware books, it is a series book but have never started reading them. When I moved out from my apartment, I left all the books. But if I have to recommend, you should get Tuesdays with Morrie.

Before I got married I had a cupboard full of books. Could not take it to my new home because of scarcity of space. One day my brother gave away all the books. I cried when I saw the empty cupboard. Want to start stocking again.
