Those who bake will know how satisfying it is when that prick through the cake will let them know that the cake is done Many a time that does not happen and one has to close the oven and wait for a few more minutes and if the minutes are more then you will be presented with a burnt cake. It is the precision that works when one bakes. What has been your experience?

I have burned a couple of cakes in my younger years, but not since then. I mostly made brownies...dark chocolate brownies.

in baking a cake, I learned that I should wait 20 minutes before I open the oven so it the rise of the cake will continue and it will not be underdone. I had my fair share of burnt and underdone cake, that is when I was young and new to baking but not anymore

Depends on the type of cake you are baking. If is just a sponge cake less time would be necessary Experience will produce the best of cakes.

@allknowing as far as I know most cakes are usually baked for more than 20 minutes not unless the cake is super thin and small. Cupcakes can be done in 12 minutes even when there are 12 of them in a pan

We don't have an over. We have a microwave. And baking a cake in a microwave is always a bad idea.

I have not opted for a microwave and life is fine without it

@allknowing microwave is only useful for heating/defrosting food- something you can do with OTG as well. We were told that we could bake cake and other Indian food items like kebabs and cook some stuff that's why we bought it. Its not useful at all. Too complicated and time taking.
