Suspension of VOA funding is unfair

For decades I have been an ardent listener of The Voice of America especially world news which have lasted 30 mins every evening (7:30pm-8:00pm Kenyan local time which is GMT+3). I loved listening to the news for two reasons; one they had a global coverage and two, the news was in swahili, my native language. Today 17th Mar. 2025, I missed the news and had to find out why, only to learn that the Trunp administration had suspended funding for the media house leading to closure of its broadcast house and services. I will surely miss VOA. I feel sad for its great presenters and anchors like Khadija Riami, Mkamiti Kibayasi and Sunday Shomari who’ve been rendered jobless abruptly. I hope Americans will realize that such a move by their government will have serious national and international implications.

That's a great shame. I don't think the consequences of such cuts has been thought through properly. So many are going to be very adversely affected by all these changes.

the shutting down of everything from news service to health care is beyond unexpected. This will, in the long run, hurt the United States.
