They closed the end of our highway

I had to go out to do some errands and drove in kind of a semi circle, but I was going to take the fast highway on the way back. They had detour signs up. It was completely closed. I wasn't about to take some crazy detour like I got on the other day in another area, so I just went back the way I came. VDOT's website actually mentions the piece of the highway they are supposed to be working on, and it wasn]t there. Oh well, hopefully, I won't get into any big delays tomorrow I have a long trip. I could leave a little earlier, but I think I will have enough time even if I encounter a lane closure. Maybe I will leave 10 minutes early.

Hopefully you will be able to get to your destination safely without having to deal with detours tomorrow.

Sometimes they close down the lanes for a brief period of time..or sometimes not so brief.

@Deepizzaguy So far it is just in that one place, but I bet it will spread..

@snowy22315 You are right since around a few blocks in my neighborhood have been closed for about a month due to the street repairs.

The interstate I take the most often has a massive construction thing going on, it's taking several years like they said it would. It's never completely closed. Often they work on it at night to avoid excess traffic. They are building new exits, new overhead ramps, etc. and it is a snarl for sure. I do hate it when I have to detour off any interstate into a small town and have to be re-routed through the country to get back on--which happens a lot in the winter due to icy roads/slideoffs/accidents. Some of those detours don't even make any sense. You have the right idea--allow yourself a bit of extra time!

You just can't predict how long it will take. When they were making the roundabout out here...there was a delay in one area, and then a delay close to the main highway that took at least 15 minutes.

@MarieCoyle Yeah, wasn't about to try it and drive 5 miles out of the way.

It's not convenient by any means. Especially when it's a ''new'' detour, and you don't know where it's taking you.

Especially if they are out of the way.

If it was one way you would have been in trouble like my niece once was. She took the wrong road and had problems with it

I am afraid they are going to move down the highway where there is more traffic..and tie that all up, like they did last summer.

Sometimes they aren't well marked, and if you don't know the roads well..they can be a pain

They are frustrating if you don't know exactly where they go or how long they are

Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope they are working to improve the highway. In the meantime you'll need to set of earlier than usual so as to avoid being late,,

Yeah, oddly though the delays were on another highway. They were fine around here.
