At what time does afternoon become night?

The photo shows the clock that is in the bedroom at our house-sit. The figures are large and it’s easily read at night and without my glasses.
As you can see, it gives the day, date and year as well as the time. You might also note that it says ‘afternoon’. At the appropriate time it will read ‘morning’ or ‘night’.
I’m intrigued as to what time it changes from one to the other. I’m guessing night will change to morning at midnight but now I have to find out at what time afternoon becomes night. It will probably take me my whole visit here to catch it at its changeover time. Care to make a guess?

It used to be 6 PM. But “Tuesday Afternoon” is always a great Moody Blues song!!!!

@JudyEv — oh, yes, I think I did both the “other days” AND Saturday. I’ll check. If it’s been long enough I’ll renew and refresh.

I use the word "afternoon" or "night" in Spanish depending on the sun. After sundown, no matter what the time, it is night.

@JudyEv In Spanish the word "afternoon" is a little bit different in meaning than in English. There is morning, a sort of afternoon and evening together and night.

There is evening before night. Does it show evening too and that would be 5 pm and it should end around 8 pm!!

I am guessing 6 p.m. but maybe it is 5. Let us know when you figure it out.

I'll do that. I need to factor in 'evening' too. 6pm was evening, rather than night.

I usually consider afternoon changes to evening at 6 pm and then evening changes to night between 9 pm and 10 pm.
Hmm... that would be interesting to see when the clock makers thought the changeover should happen.

@DaddyEvil I saw it at 6.49pm and it's evening. I hadn't thought about evening. Another one to add to the mix.

Is that meant for people with dementia or something? I mean it already says 2:51 PM - that means afternoon so there's no need to say it again! That's like when people say they did something at 7 AM in the morning - well you couldn't do it at 7 am in the afternoon could you?!
Sorry that's one of my pet hates... but also, how can you sleep with something that bright in the bedroom?

Looks like a very practical and convenient clock to have in the bedroom! It is nice to have the large numbers -making it easy to read, especially at night or as soon as we wake up. The added details like the day, date, and even the time-of-day labels make it even more useful. Could help the brain in early hours to do the quick planning for the day. The curiosity about when "afternoon" switches to "night" is quite interesting! Midnight seems like the obvious changeover for "night" to "morning," but "afternoon" to "night" might be a little trickier. My guess is perhaps around 6 or 7 PM, but then it could also be closer to 8 PM. The only way to find would be to keep an eye on it and see if you can catch the exact moment. Let us know when you finally solve the mystery!

I'm thinking twenty-five or -six to four might be a bit early...

I would say that about 6 would be evening and then night and at midnight it would go back to early morning,

That’s a pretty handy clock! I love how clear it is—perfect for those late-night time checks. My guess is that it switches from afternoon to night at 6 or 7 PM. Now I’m curious too! Let us know when you catch it!

I'm still working on it! I'm sure it's going to take me the whole time I'm here.

I think afternoon becomes night at sunset, according to your clock. But generally, we have an evening in between afternoon and night!
