Anita came but Martín didn´t. So, as usual, I started to work on a plan B. Juanita is washing the second load of clothes. Now that it is not as warm I have to wash early in the morning so that the sun does its job. Last night I cooked rice at midnight. I had put to soak black beans and thinking that Martín would come I decided that I´d either make black beans Venezuelan style with rice or, if I did not have time, I´d eat rice with eggs sunny side up. Now I´ll do and finish the beans. They are already cooked in the pressure cooker and Anita cut up some onions. Now it is my turn to fry them and add spices and garlic. See you later.

I thought you'd decided to sleep late today. Sorry Martin didn't make it this morning. Something big must have come up. You know he'd never miss seeing you if he could help it. I do hope he called and told you he wouldn't be there, though. I hope you have a good day.

I can never sleep well the day Anita comes. I have to cook for her and she takes me out of bed when she decides it is time to change the bedding. I prefer to accept that because I dread that she starts doing something else and I have to do that myself later. Martin did not come because his father had a big cold and he did not want to bring bugs here. But he will come with his GF on Saturday. He invited himself for lunch. He wants to finish my jigsaw puzzle.

I accepted and he told me that he knew how to make lasagna and he´d bring one. So I´m making a salad and bought the most delicious ice cream for dessert.

@marguicha At least Anita makes sure you have clean bedding to sleep on after she leaves. I'm glad Martin thinks about you and doesn't want to bring you sickness when he doesn't need to. I like Martin better each time we talk about him. I wish I could meet him in person, too. I'm sure we'd all be great friends.

@DaddyEvil I´m amazed that such a young man has grown so attached to an ol´witch like myself.

But I can understand his need to finish putting together the jigsaw puzzle. When he opened the box, after telling me to do some exercises absentmindedly while he looked at a piece, he told me that he wasn´t charging me for that appointment.

I thought it was fair as after I ended each set, I had to ask him what came next.

I have a question totally unrelated to your post. Does Chile ever get tornadoes? My husband and I were wondering about it lately since here in North America tornados happen all the time. Does South America get tornadoes, do tornadoes happen below the equator?

We don´t have tornadoes in my country but I don´t know in the rest of South America. Even in Chile, as it is a very long country, there are many different climates that go from the dryest desert in the world to the south pole.

No. Martín will not come. But I cooked a lot of black beans and only mixed some with spices. Now, the rest of the just cooked beans are in the freezer. I´ll make some for him next week.

As usual, you are treating Anita to a nice meal. Martin will be sorry he missed it! I made beans today, too--only mine is what you would probably call ''American Beans'' as it is bean soup with ham, onions, celery, carrots...I put it in the crockpot early this morning and it's for dinner, with corn muffins and salad. We are expecting storms and have a big, cold wind constantly blowing, so soup seemed to be a good thing to fix today.

Yours seems awesome. But I cannot eat any beans but the black ones. With the other I always have stomach problems. except if I sieve them.

@marguicha I don’t have any problems eating beans of any kind, luckily they don’t bother me. I can’t eat foods with much grease, and I am allergic to most hot peppers. But that’s it. We had a bowl of bean soup for a late lunch and there is enough for another meal, plus I froze enough for a future meal. I can’t eat never hardly make a small pot of beans!
