Bathroom wars among adults

We keep the student bathrooms locked in between classes. Teachers on duty arrive 5 minutes after the bell and 5 minutes before the bell. Teenagers being teenagers, well they’ve been using the faculty bathrooms up here which are usually unlocked and with open doors.
That is a problem because teachers only have the 4 minutes between classes to do their business. There are 2 bathrooms for like 30 people. So it enrages people when they are waiting to pee and a student comes out.
Sooooo we started locking the door. We all have keys. The secretary in the office has extras. People (the adults not the students) are flipping out about having to bring a key to get into the bathroom. Like seriously freaking out. I would get it if it was the kids mad but it is the adults.
So childish.

The keys seem to be a reasonable solution. I wonder why they are not happy about it.
What is the reason to lock the student's restroom?

@NJChicaa Oh! I see. But I am concerned about the students. With no restroom access, it would be a very unpleasant situation for them. Something should be done about that.

@arunima25 They have access during regular class periods. Just not when there is a change of classes and there is no teacher there to supervise.

They shouldn't be mad about it, rather happy that they will have keys.

Waaaay too much drama over going to the bathroom. The teachers should understand that the loos are being locked for their convenience. Sheesh!
