California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were in pursuit of a female opossum or are they called Jills who was traveling across the Golden Gate Bay Bridge in San Francisco about three weeks ago.
CHP officers answered an emergency call from eyewitnesses about a Jill who was crossing the bridge near Treasure Island when the officers were able to catch the Jill with the help of an eyewitness and a member of the nonprofit rescue center Jelly's Place as Officer Pack who had to drive his auto slowly.
After the Jill was caught by the officer and the animal rescue team member, the Jill was taken to WildCare in San Rafael California where the veterinarians found out that the Jill was carrying a pouch of babies that were not affected by the incident at the bridge.

That is rather amusing. I'm sure the guys on the hunt were not pleased, however. The moma's pouch must be sturdy to carry them so well.

That is true since the opossum did cause some distraction on the bridge.

I am in agreement with you that the babies of the jill were not harmed.

Opossums are only small critters, so might be hard to catch, but they do not run that fast, only 4 to 7 miles per hour, so it was good they caught it, before a speeding car killed the poor creature with its babies too.

You are right that the police showed restraint chasing the opossum.
