What a week

This is my third Spring in this old house. I love it though this week has really smacked me, really shoved it in my face how isolated every American is when it comes to getting health care. You can't call up your current Medic and tell them that you are in trouble- get over here. No. You have to tough it out or figure a way to drive yourself to the Walk In clinic or call the ambulance and sit in the ER lobby for five or more hours. Tuesday night I was sitting up on the edge of my bed, writing. I finished, climbed into bed and all hell broke loose. I suddenly got cold to the bone. I must get a thermometer. I shook hard enough to make my left leg muscles, thigh down to my toes, cramp. I just could not get warm and stop shaking for hours. I am grateful for delivery services though that costs. My left leg is still having major pain issues. I'm still sleeping worse than ever. Of course the demanding cats are, yup, demanding. Hubby is trying to help. He took the dogs out this morning. I'm eating weird- had a hot dog for supper last night cause I wanted salt. Just a hot dog. Right now I am eating a pudding cup. I hope whatever has hit me is not contagious. Hubby has a sermon that he must go to on Sunday.

Oh, Lenore. Is there no one who can take you to the doctor? I understand driving yourself isn’t really an option. Darn it. I’d try to get you to take an Uber, but I won’t take an Uber so I’m not going to bother you about it.

That sounds dreadful. Have you seen a doctor? Are you any better?

@sallypup If you don't continue to improve, I would have a neighbor drive you to your doc or athe ER or an urgent care. Something is going on there. None of what you describe sounds normal. Wondering about your salt craving..do you think it is Low BP? You're welcome BTW

@snowy22315 I do tend toward low blood pressure. The redness is not going above the knee so that is a plus.

@snowy22315 I have not seen a doctor. I can't imagine getting dressed then dragging myself to the car let alone driving. I am a little better today though my left leg continues to hurt. Thanks for the concern.

It sounds like the flu, but also many viruses going around right now. The doctor might not have done a thing for you but tell you to stay hydrated and rest. Pickle juice helps the cramps. If you have an old sock, fill it with rice and microwave it to make a hot pack to put in your bed. You sound pretty sick and uncomfortable.

Yeah, I know how that feels. I hope it's nothing serious and at least you're not alone.

@kaylachan Thanks. My hubby is not in great shape, either. I have been this side of a caregiver for him for the past two years. He is trying to step up and help.

@sallypup I've been the same for george, but the little things he does do help me out considerably.

@kaylachan That's good. It is impossible for my hubby to figure out the cats cause each has their own diet- one is on a prescription cat food.

That sounds rough—I’m sorry you’re going through this. The healthcare system really does make it so hard to get help when you need it. I hope you start feeling better soon, and that your leg pain eases up. At least the cats and hubby are doing their best to keep things running. Take it easy and rest up!

I hope you're feeling much better by now! I had an allergic reaction day before yesterday so used another epi-pen. Pretty keeps insisting I HAVE to go to the hospital but I don't want to sit there so they can "observe" me when I can stay in my bed and sleep. I know the nurses at the ER will just keep waking me up to ask me how I'm feeling and take my temp. Been there and done that. Don't see a reason to do it again. It gets even more fun when my eyes swelled shut... Pretty thinks I'll be more inclined to go to the ER when I can't see. As if that makes any difference.

That sounds awful! I hope it's all over now - or at least the worst of it.
