Big fun at Guitar Center yesterday.

I am teaching Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Pride and Joy" to my 10-year-old student, Gunnar. He is the one who "rocked" "Wild Thing" at our last Guitar Center Showcase. He has ADHD, and sometimes "spaces out" for a few moments during our lessons. But when he focuses in, he is "all in" on the music. He also has rock 'n roll hair, and we have a good time throwing our heads around and doing "guitar player expressions" when we play.
I'll attach Stevie's Pride and Joy. If Gunnar does this during our next Showcase, I will accompany him on stage, as I did at the last one. His fingers are not long enough to do the E-G#-B-C# riff that backs up the song. I will handle that part. But he can do some of the other "cool Stevie licks" without any problem.

@kaylachan You've proablmly heard it before. I hope you enjoy it when you do. It is what @Vandana7 would call a happy love song, even though it has blues attitude.

If you really want to have some fun, mash up SRV’s “Pride and Joy” with Marvin Gaye’s completely different song with the same name!

Glad he is doing so well and great that he has fun doing it. When I started learning to play the piano I took to it right away and that made it fun to learn,

@TheHorse the piano stayed in Latvia but one day I might invest in a keyboard just to see what I remember

@TheHorse I too enjoyed teaching both online and face to face in some schools.

That sounds like an awesome experience for both of you! Gunnar sounds like a natural, and with you backing him up, that showcase is going to be epic. Can’t wait to hear how it goes—rock on!
