It is that time of the year when Cricket's undeclared equivalent of EPL Football starts. Yes it is the franchisee based Mega and Multi Billion Dollar Cricket event : IPL 2025! There was an opening ceremony featuring Indian singers Shreya Ghoshal and Karan Aujla and Bollywood actor Disha Patani. Then the opening match started at Eden Gardens, Kolkata between the defending champions KKR and RCB. And it is just start of the excitement. Images taken from Newspaper and TV

@JudyEv As per the revenue and viewership, IPL is now at #5 in sports leagues among the Best World Sports Leagues as per this article: Yet in another article it was ranked #2. I do doubt #2 but otherwise, the popularity and ranking is quite high. And during the whole IPL period, Bollywood has decided not to release any new movie !

@JudyEv It is perhaps more about not cutting into each other's revenues. Many Bollywood stars are married to Cricket players.

@JudyEv Yes and many are big crowd pullers. However, Aussie players like Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh too have become very popular. Plus other countries ' players like Faf Du Plessis, Rachin Ravindra, Jos Butler, Aiden Markram and more !
