I've never watched this movie but bought it for Pretty on DVD. She loves scary movies. (I've never liked scary movies and don't watch them if I can help it.) When Pretty was younger, she'd always want me to sit with her while she watched a scary movie. She'd start out sitting beside me while I read a book. As the movie got scarier, she'd start edging behind my shoulder and push further behind me as the movie proceeded. By the time the movie was ending, she'd be completely behind me just watching over my shoulder. I always though that was funny! She doesn't ask me to sit with her while she watches a scary movie anymore.

@Dreamerby We've lived with ghosts in other houses. They just want to live and let live, just like everyone else. Scary movies give me nightmares and I wake up screaming. I don't watch scary movies. I once screamed so loud I woke up the neighbors across the street.

You are living with a ghost. Its understood that horror movies can never be scary for you or Pretty

@DaddyEvil You know you are being ironic here. A living ghost doesn't scare you but horror movies do?

I like Tubular Bells... in fact, I have some in my house, hanging in the divider between dining room and living room. Every once in a while, I give them a dingle. The picture is one I got from the internet (too lazy to snap a pic of my own, which have a brushed steel finish, not golden like this one).

Mom had the ones that rang in a low base tone which I liked, I don't care for the ones that have the high pitched tones

I read the book and saw the movie. The book was kind of scary, but I didn't think the movie was. The music was a little eerie though.

I didn't read the book, the movie was scary but much of it was simply gross which is why I won't watch it again.

When I was older, I made an attempt at watching this movie. I didn't get far, and left the room. Just a big nope from me.

@rebelann Definitely not, me either. Another one that sent me into hysterics at the time was Rosemary's Baby. Another huge NOPE from me.

I remember my friends talking about the controversy of this film when it came out, but I didn't actually see it until a decade later in my teens. Everyone in the house went to sleep as I stayed up to do my homework in the kitchen. I saw the commercial for it on TV and I FROZE. I could barely get back to my room later - I got afraid of the dark again. But I wanted to see it . . . so I did. I'm not religious or anything, but this movie scared the heck out of me - and it forever became the scariest movie I had ever seen. So til this day, I get a bit of PTSD from hearing the music .

@rebelann I couldn't get into Nightmare on Elm Street because the actor who plays the Freddy Krueger (the scary character) was on another series . . . I just couldn't see him as the "monster" type. I did get into the first Halloween, but not the ones thereafter nor the remakes. I didn't see/hear the video link, but believe me the theme was in my head . . . if it were Name That Tune, I could name that song in one note .

Oh wow, I always thought Freddy was part of Halloween. I almost want to watch those 2 but I can't even watch my favorite Vampire movies anymore.

I was much older so it didn't bother me as much. The ones I will not watch are Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween. Oh darn, I hope you didn't listen to the video.

I was too young to see it in 1973, but I saw it on television in 1979. I was 16 and watched it by myself. I shut my eyes a few times. I’m sure that I saw an edited version.

I saw it a theater with a mostly black audience. It was a fun experience. I liked the book better, though.

It's the movie called 'The Exorcist', many people found it to be scary but for me it was mostly simply gross.

I agree with you, I watched the first movie but there was nothing scary about it ...... I had to laugh at how they tried to create a romantic situation involving a vampire.
