British reality series of 9 seasons and which already aired. From June 2016 to December 2022 but our telly is showing it every now and then. So, this reality series follows a couple who decides to buy a castle in France and moved in before the castle is finished. A castle that noone invested in more than half a century, you can imagine in what condition is. So, yes, at first, we follow only one couple, then other couples but i liked original staff the most; Rick, a former soldier and Angel, interior designer. I would like to stay in the castle but all these decorations, installments, it costs too much money. Hm... And you, mylotters?

I haven't seen this show. I never wanted a huge house, let alone a castle, now I enjoy living in a smaller space just big enough for the 2 of us.

@grenery8 The larger space, is more inviting for a growing family, inviting friends and family over. After the family is grown and on their own, we are enjoying living in a nice small space, big enough for the 2 of us, with a little extra space that I was easily able to adopt and make a home office out of until I retire and then that room becomes a den again, a place to put together jigsaw puzzles or to read a book quietly.

@Juliaacv your way of thinking is practical and i like it. you're right, it's for more people. for small gatherings, smaller places are just perfect

I never watch "reality TV" because it's all scripted and not interesting to me.

most of them are scripted but maybe cause natural scenery is involved and people are doing something there, it doesn't feel like a reality series. it's like my neighbours renovating their place and i am a part of it

I LOVED this show. It was so magical, and I miss it greatly. I could never summon the energy to do what they did, but wow, good for them for making their dream come true.

It'd be "cool", but certainly it'd be too expensive to bring it up to modern standards. In my husband's family - it was said that his ancestors did have a castle in Scotland. With research, it was found that it still existed and that it was up for sale (at that time) for an "inexpensive" price (relatively speaking - it was still in the millions ). Apparently it had been vacant for too long, and although it looked "cool" via the photos we saw, so much had to be renovated. We all joked that we should invest in it and move there - but no way.

yes, nice as a joke, most definitely. i'm glad you can say that you could have lived in a castle in scotland, that's nicethis couple got this instead of 2bedroom apartment and invested all their savings; even repair crew said they were nuts moving in. i think the castle was 280 000 pounds and they had to get rid of bats, mice and flies. so many rooms and 60 windows, i think we can be cool but we need to be realistic as well

If I was much younger and had more money, I'd love to renovate a castle.

you said it right. it is not a task, especially with 2 little children like this couple had .

That sounds like *Escape to the Chateau*! Such a fascinating show—watching them transform that place was incredible. But yeah, the cost of maintaining a castle is no joke. Fun to dream about, though!

have you watched it? it was nice seeing something progressing day after day. also, they bought this instead of 2bedroom apartment but all that investing, it is no joke, as you said it. absolutely nice to dream about living there

A French castle? Sounds tempting. Lol!
