A toy library - interesting concept

A toy library

I've seen quite a few toy libraries in the libraries I've visited here. The concept is the same as a book library, but you can borrow toys instead of books. They have toys for a wide range of ages and small to large toys like portable basketball hoops and some mini cycles. I've used it when the kids were younger as it helped ensure we didn't need to keep buying toys and we could just borrow them for a couple of weeks. Have you been to a toy library?

Yes, they allowed my daughter to just hang around even though we didn't borrow anything.

@pitstop that's kind and also a good promotion for them.

Maybe they are popular only in some parts of the world.

@pitstop Apparently, there are toy libraries all over the US now. I don't know when they became a "thing" here but they did. (I haven't paid attention to kids since my daughter went to college.)

I've never heard of that! What a neat concept. Sports equipment and toys can be really expensive these days. I'm sure the parents appreciate the toy library as much as the kids do.

Wow! That's a very new thing that I heard of.. it would be great to have one in every locality. Parent spend so much on the toys these days and children outgrow them so soon. This would be so helpful for parents who can't afford expensive toys

@pitstop I wish there was something like that when my girls were young. We stayed in the US and even there I was not aware of any such places. Anyways, I donated their stuffs to Goodwill ( the ones that they outgrew or ones we could not carry with us) when we shifted to other countries.

We do not have them here, but it would be super nice if we did. Good toys are such an expense, and most of the toys never wear out. Here parents tend to resell their toys on social media or at yard sales, but they only get a fraction of the cost of what they are worth.

I've picked up a few cheap toys on garage sales and Facebook marketplace.

I belonged to a toy library when the boys were young. It was a great concept. I'm glad they're still going.
