I always had scanty hair but these days I notice I am losing my hair a bit every day. I oil my hair once a week and I am serious about learning on how to stop hair loss. I believe in homoeopathy and will spend time browsing the Net and even may be consult my doctor about it. I always had that Diana Hair Cut but decided to keep it long after the pandemic just to avoid those stylist coming over to do my hair My hair now is shoulder length and is refusing to go beyond. Any ideas?

I suggest to trim it monthly.

Did you ever pay attention to your mother's or grandmothers' hair? You inherited your hair from either your mom's side of the family or your dad's side of the family. Your hair will be similar to theirs. I inherited my hair from my mother's side of the family. It's thick and grows fast. Several of my brothers inherited their hair from dad's side of the family. They started going bald in their late teenage years. Pretty inherited her hair from my side of the family. Her hair is long and thick, just like mine. Her mother always had thin hair and was always trying to find something that would help her grow more and thicker hair. I hope you find something that will help you grow longer, thicker hair. Good luck with it.

@allknowing A lot of men don't care about the side effects, they just want to keep their hair.

Hair loss is a natural part of aging, but if it happens rapidly, there could be underlying health conditions contributing to it. This is especially true for women, as significant hair loss is not typically expected. If you're experiencing excessive shedding, it's best to consult a hair specialist or dermatologist to assess your condition properly. However, finding a good hair expert can be challenging since only a few people take hair health seriously enough to seek professional advice. Many avoid consultations due to the high cost and instead resort to self-medication, which may not always be the safest or most effective solution.

@allknowing I see. If finding a good doctor for hair loss is difficult, you can try experimenting with different approaches, such as switching shampoos or alternating between shampoo and conditioner. There are plenty of hair care brands that cater to various hair concerns, so finding the right one might take some trial and error. Another factor that can contribute to hair thinning is frequent exposure to extreme heat, such as when cooking often. Prolonged heat exposure can cause hair to become weak and lead to receding hairlines. A simple way to counter this is to minimize direct heat exposure or take a refreshing cold shower after cooking to help cool down your scalp and prevent potential damage.

It is not excessive hair loss but hair loss which I did not experience earlier.

I think this is a real problem and it is not a very good solution yet. I remember there is a comb that can avoid losing more hair when you comb your hair. This may be better.

@allknowing Tangle Teezer and it looks like the attached image. I bought it long time ago and I think it can somewhat avoid damaging the hair. But now I use a comb that made of ox horn and it is with wider teeth. I think it may work better than plastic as Tangle Teezer is a plastic comb.

I've heard it grows better if you keep it trimmed.

@Dreamerby You can let it grow six inches then just trim off a tiny bit then let it grow another 6. In time it gets longer and longer.

Oh is it? Then I too will go back to short hair.Just taht my mom doesn't like it. She says it doesn't go well with Indian traditional dresses. I have different opinions regarding that.

Same problem here. My hair doesn't exceed shoulder length too. I think it has something to do with genes. I got my dad's genes here. My grandma(dad's side) has thin and short hair too.

There is a difference between hair loss and scanty hair due to genes. I was not unduly worried about the scantiness but recently I see hair loss not much but that was not there before This photo shows my scanty hair condition when I was young

@allknowing Well, that's still good hair. I think what you are experiencing is because of aging.

Hair loss can be frustrating! Maybe try massaging your scalp daily to improve circulation. Also, look into biotin supplements or a mild, sulfate-free shampoo. Hope you find something that helps!

I have been using aloe vera based shampoo. Your massage idea is good but it could be quite tiring. The Supplement thing appeals to me Thank you
