Bucket Lists

With only a couple of years left of my working career, my mind often drifts off to the bucket list.
You know the list that we fill when we do not have the time or the money to do something or go somewhere that we would really love to go. Something that we may have heard about, but have tweaked to work just for you, or for yourself and your significant other.
Top of that list for me has always been a trip to our Eastern Provinces. Although, still part of our vast country, they have a flair and culture very unique to themselves. Something that other visitors have advised me of, and something that I would love to experience. They are a very warm and hospitable population. Just think back to the events of 9/11 when all of those airline flights were routed into the Gander airport in Newfoundland. The passengers were there for days, full of uncertainty, full of fears, but all seemed to have loved their time there due to the locals.
My bucket list 'dream' trip includes a 10 hour train ride from our city (London, ON) to Montreal, Quebec. We would take a hotel room for the night and arrive bright and early the following day to take the East Coast tour ride. We would ride on a sleeper car, having full window views and a place to sleep. Meals are served of course as we would pass through Quebec, Newfoundland, and New Brunswick. We would opt to stay a bit at the final destination before travelling further to take in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.
So much to imagine, so much to get excited for.
Do you have any adventures on your bucket list that you are looking forward to?

They did a big story here about those wonderful people who helped the stranded passengers after 9/11. It was incredibly moving.
I’m going to Canada in September, so that will be crossed off my list. I still “need” to play a slot machine once (nope, never had the chance), and then skydiving (two doctors said yes, one said no, but I go with the doc who did it and would know better than anyone).
You’ll have such a blast! That trip sounds amazing.

I saw the show Come From Afar, and everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves after 9/11, although it may not have been purely true. The East Coasters, will always say, we will leave a porch light on for you, and they mean it.
You will have to tell me the highlights of your cruise so that I can try to research them to see if we can enjoy the same.
I have played slots, but they didn't do anything for me. I hope that you get to play one someday. Maybe when Amyra becomes of age the 2 of you could take a trip together. It would be something that you would both long remember.

Do as much traveling as you can while you're still young. My bucket list is null and void now that my husband is gone. We were limited to 2-3 days trips anyway.

My back isn't the greatest, and I hope that when I get into see my new doctor he pursues the advancement of my severe osteoporosis and begins to treat it to help me maintain the bones that I have.
I also am concerned about dementia as it is so predominate on my mother's side.

@LindaOHio When the doctor offered to run some testing on me for dementia, I declined. I do not want to know. I remember you wrote that he had it, his body really aged so many years in the one last year.

It was actually our conversation from earlier this morning that inspired me to post this.
I had no idea that you are also from Ireland, where abouts?
My Dad's family hail from Tipperary.
Over there our last name was Goleeson, but here they dropped the second letter, and it is just Gleeson.

@Juliaacv my family is from Cork and it's one of those things that I wished i had asked my grandmother about and paid more attention when she told her stories. Its really funny that she spoke with an Irish accent but cooked like an Italian
Sunday dinners at her house was always a big pot of meatballs, sausage and bits of pork and some sort of pasta. Gosh I miss her

since watching Marguerite Volant series, i wanted to visit Quebec and i think your plan is great
. i travelled 6 hours by train and it was too much for me but being on a vacation, 10 hours shouldn't be that hard. i like reading or watching about new places but i'm not a travelling type; crowds and such. i like our neighbour country, slovenia (birth place of melania trump
) and their mountain air is really nice so, 2-3 hours by train in future, with a special person, that would be good for me just, i have to find that person first

I'd like to go see Yellowstone National Park and the Rockies someday. I had a friend who went to Newfoundland to see Puffins. She had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the local's hospitality there.

Your dream trip sounds good. When I was in Canada, I stayed in Halifax, Nova Scotia for 2 years. It's a very beautiful city.

I remember when I first told my husband of my bucket list dream trip, he questioned why we would take the train, and I explained to him so that we could both sit back and enjoy the view. He wasn't really open to the idea until I suggested it.
It is a few years before we will go, but I cannot help but to dream and look at the stops and research the places to see and get excited about it all.
Some people aspire to travel to other countries, but Canada is so huge and vast, and there are so many beautiful places to visit and see, that I have always wanted to spend my retirement years discovering such places.
