We didn't want him here. We stayed quiet, no demonstrations. We were expecting the usual boasts, threats, and other crap Americans are known for. Instead, Rubio came across like a sugar puppy, acting so nice and respectful. Huh? He stated that America would re-evaluate the travel warnings about Jamaica. He has no idea that it didn't really effect tourism. We were more firm about our need for Cuban doctors. Trump the ignorant made it sound that the doctors were being exploited. Yeah, I know it makes no sense. Rubio unlike his loud mouthed owner, acted sort of respectful, claiming he would investigate. It was pretty clear to Rubio that we don't fall for Trump's lies, nor depend on the US as much as he thought. Still... I don't rule out any kind of nastiness.

75% of ALL tourism in Jamaica comes from AMERICAN tourists. If we stop visiting, you're sunk.

well, despite the 'warnings' tourism didn't suffer a bit. There was some crime warning but as most tourists go directly to an all inclusive which they only leave to return home, it didn't have much of an effect. In ancient days tourists would come and want to see various sites. This is still possible, but most come and stay at all inclusives. Our major concern were Cuban doctors. We have had a relationship since the 70s as we don't have enough medical personal. For some reason Trump thought they were being 'exploited' and ran his mouth. As most of the Caribbean doesn't enough doctors, all but Jamaica jumped up to confront, but Holness is a long time player so knows how to manipulate.
