Tourist submarine sinks

March 27, 2025 5:56pm CST
A tourist submarine has sunk in the Red Sea. Just off the city of Hurghada, the submarine ‘crashed’, and of the 45 tourists, 39 survived. The submarine is one of 14 passenger submarines that was purpose-built to allow those onboard to get up close to coral reefs and other aquatic life on the sea bed. The submarine crashed just 1km from the shore, and tragically 2 of the 6 dead are children. All casualties are of Russian nationality. It is such a tragedy that this has happened. I recall shark attacks having a hugely negative effect on tourism on the Red Sea resort a few years ago. I hope this accident doesn’t have a negative impact as well.

That's really awful. Such an accident would put a lot of people off such a tour.

Yes it will do. Hopefully it won’t deter people from going to the resort

That was very tragic. Never heard of any crash in the past. Did the submarine hit some underwater rock?

It was breaking news today and more will be released over the next day or so I expect. In the past the attacks were shark attacks on divers.
