In the late 50s a band that was to become very famous was known as Johnny and the Moondogs. The group went through several name changes as they developed their identity. They went through many talent shows and small gigs readying themselves for the big reveal. Such names as the Black Jacks, The Quarrymen, and then the Beatals and finally The Silver Beatles changed to The Beatles in 1960. The band included John Lennon, Paul McCarthy, and George Harrison with Ringo Starr joining in August of 1962. John loved work play and the name was inspired by the words "beat" and "beetles" and, also a nod to Buddy Holly's band "The Crickets". John said he changed the spelling because beetles would make people think of crawly things. Did you like The Beatles?

I loved the Beatles. I knew a couple of their previous names but not all.
