Wow. I've never owned a car before. I've always leased. I actually had pretty much the exact same one from 2017. When the lease was about up I went to the dealership to see what my options were. They said they weren't leasing them any longer so I could buy out the one I already had or buy a new one for just $50/more per month than I was already paying for the lease. I went with the new one. It is black with black rims. I wasn't thrilled about the black rims at first but I'm used to them now.
I love my little convertible. It is a stick and fun to drive. Well it is fun to drive when a-hole NJ drivers aren't trying to run me off the road.
I also am much more cautious about making left turns in front of oncoming traffic because it is so small that getting T-boned would likely kill me.
I will hang in there with it for as long as I can. It will be nice to not have a $475 car payment. My mother has been on my case to get rid of it for over a year. I don't know why she cares to be honest. She doesn't have to drive it. She keeps saying it is impractical but um I live alone and don't have kids. I don't need more than a 2-seater.

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata: pure driving enjoyment. With its ideal power-to-weight ratio, your MX-5 anticipates and answers your every command.

Congratulations. Coincidentally, my husband's 2nd cousin paid off her car this month. You can put that $$ toward your house!

Congrats. Unless you own a business, leasing is the WORST way to have a car. Onward and upward. Now, take that payment and keep making it, only instead of sending it to the holder of the loan, send it to your savings account. You're already used to making the payment, you won't miss the money, and one day it will even perhaps provide a down payment for a new car or you can buy one outright...
Or maybe take a nice vacation, or even work toward a down payment on a house or a condo.
