Oh, here’s a surprise. Maybe? Maybe not. This song is 40 years old now, which may surprise you. I hope it’s not that big a shock that it’s showing up on a list…and so high on the list at that! Here’s today’s 1985 tune.
#3: Take Me Home - Phil Collins
Man, the video to this song is terrific. I love him walking into Graceland. And the end? “You’ve been down at the pub, haven’t you!”
In the 80s it got to the point where you didn’t know if it was a Genesis song or a Phil Collins song. That’s not really a good thing, but they both sold in the millions. In fact, according to Picky Wedia, Collins is the second-richest drummer in the world, behind Sir Richard Starkey.
Sadly, Phil has health issues. If you’ve seen recent photos of him, he looks more like he’s 84 than 74. He had to sit in a chair during the final Genesis shows.
But oh the music he’s given us. This is such a gem of a song.
And I do remember.

I really enjoy the music of Phil Collins. I did know that he is the second richest drummer behind Sir Ringo Starr.

Maybe that’s why Eagles tickets are so expensive: Henley’s trying to catch up with Phil!

@FourWalls That explains everything since artists are entertainers who give their best effort in concerts.

They really owned the 80s. You had Genesis hits, Phil Collins hits, Mike + the Mechanics hits, and Peter Gabriel hits!

It is a good representation of the 80s. I think the last two are as well.

Oh, what’s not to love! Even his hand puppet in “Land of Confusion” was cute!
