Even after the cuts to national parks done by Trump the firefly siting will go on as planned in early June. Viewing schedules can be retrieved via recreation.gov and the exact viewing dates will be announced in April. There have been twelve staff let go from the park although federal judges ruled that the employees should be reinstated. This is the mating season for the fireflies, so vehicle access has been limited to reduce traffic and disturb the fireflies. This is why a lottery has been set up.
