Back from dinner with my mother

My mother hasn't been in my apartment in like 4 years. My sister once called it a "$hithole". My mother's excuse has been that she has breathing problems and at one point had a collapsed lung. Funny that she has no problem climbing up to the 3rd floor in my sister's house to my nephew's bedroom every damn day. Anyway she surprised me by ringing the bell. She came up here and brought presents from my sister and my aunt. My sister bizarrely gave me a comforter for my bed. Very random. It is fine though because I do need a new one. I will donate the 2 that I alternate between to the animal shelter. We went to a local restaurant that I had never been to before. It was pricey but the food was good. Trying to make conversation with her was challenging but she managed to behave herself. The worst thing she said was that I shouldn't watch CNN. She let it go after that which was unusual. I'm back at the apartment now. I'm trying to catch up on the news as I didn't get a chance to see much of it so far today or tonight. I'm tired, though, so I'm sure I'll be in bed somewhat early. I thought it was supposed to storm already but the sky is still pretty clear. We shall see. What's everyone else up to tonight?

I remember my dad getting mad at me for watching CNN. That may have been because I was 12 though. Congratulations on getting through dinner with your mom. Boy, I wish she treated you better.

I live "like an artist." My ancient Auntie could not tolerate this place. But I love it.

How kind of you to donate those 2 comforters to the animal shelters. I'm not sure they can use them for the kennels since it's so big, unless it's blankets, pillowcases, towels, washcloths to lay down. I can ask tomorrow when I volunteer in the afternoon. Maybe your nearest Goodwill or thrift store can profit better from them. Just trying to feel better to kick this cold I've had for a week.

Of course, I don’t know your mother, but I don’t think I understand why she treats you the way she does. You are a daughter to be proud of and she should be happy about that! I’m glad you made it through the dinner, I know you were dreading that. Also glad you received some nice gifts and had a good dinner.

I am lazy tonight. After work I stayed in Marion to meet my appointment for a power red donation at the Red Cross Bloodmobile. It kind of wiped me out. Tomorrow is another working day, so I need to go to bed. I am glad dinner with your mom was at least tolerable.

NOT watching CNN (or any other news). I cleaned more of the kitchen. Tomorrow I’ll try to clean the medicine cabinet. Glad the dinner was civil.

I'm glad you got to spend time with your mother today... I might have asked if she made a mistake and meant to show up on April 1st, though.

I've been shaky all day. I'm headed to bed sooner than later.
