It has been a long time

Bob has always been proud of being a blood donor, but his health has prevented it for over seven years. On impulse he went in to the blood drive yesterday and was able to give a donation. It made him feel really good. I was already scheduled for a power red donation after work. That is why I got home late and was a bit tired. I did not get back here last night. I never gave blood until I was in my forties. When I lived closer to a platelet center I gave platelets every three weeks. It is a good feeling to help others.

Good for you two!!!! I stopped giving blood because they had so much trouble finding a vein. One time the woman left the needle sticking out of my arm while she went for help. Another time they nicked a nerve in my arm; and it was tingly and numb for a week.

They won’t take me anymore because of my IgM deficiency. I had a gallon pin once upon a time. I’m so happy that he got to donate! Makes you feel good, doesn’t it.

We're not able to give blood now but Vince did for years and I did for a while. It's a good thing to do and doesn't cost anything.

As a parent that has a son who needs transfusions on a regular basis, I try to personally thank every blood donor I know. I wish that I could donate as well, but I have some medical issues that prevent that. Many thanks to you and Bob, from the heart. It means more than you know!

I used to give blood every time the blood mobile came to Aurora but was forced to stop after I was diagnosed with cancer... I should have been able to donate again 12 months after I was diagnosed cancer free but, I was diagnosed with rectal cancer 9 months after I was declared cancer free and refused to have surgery for the rectal cancer so wasn't eligible to donate after that... When I tried to donate blood last year, one of my medications blocked me from donating then. It's always something.
