I had pulled a few rings out of Mom's jewelry box with the intent to sell them, and a bit ago I took one of them to the Jewelry store to ask what it was made of. I knew that it wasn't "real" but I wanted to know what terminology to use when I put it up on eBay. I got familiar with one of the ladies there a while back when I was scrambling to sell jewelry to pay my rent. She was the lady who waited on me, and I was happy to chat with her a bit again. The ring is "base metal/gold tone/crystal"--the crystal on this particular ring looks like an opal. She didn't say anything about the black part around the faux opal that looks like onyx, but I'm guessing it's "faux onyx." I don't have time to get photos of the ring and put it up on eBay today, as I want to get ready for church, but hopefully I'll have time tomorrow in the morning, as in the afternoon I'm going to get my TB test read. It certainly doesn't look like it's done any "reacting" to me, but a nurse or doctor is supposed to say if I'm clear or not, so I'll just let them.
