Officials with the Enderlin Municipal Library in North Dakota received in the mail the return of the book called Rebecca written by author Daphne du Maurier.
The book was supposed to be returned to the library on October 6,1973. The person who did return the overdue book returned the book through the mail anonymously and even had a $20 bill inside the book.
The book was returned to the library on Friday March 28. The good news is that the late fees for overdue books was waived last month.

Looks like it all worked out. Someone was at least trying to pay their bill.

You are right that the person who returned the book felt guilty that the book was not returned in time.

That was rather generous to include a $20 bill in the book, as the postage on the book would have been hefty too, as books are not cheap to post.
