Planting trees is a rewarding exercise

After graduating in 2011 I almost forgot about my rural home. In fact, I had become so much used to urban life that I rarely visited my rural home. But when my job-hunting efforts proved mostly futile, I chose to go back home. It was in 209, during the covid pandemic that I embarked on my homeward journey. On arrival I found my home bushy with shrubs and scrubs. An idea struck me almost instantly; why not clear the useless scrubs and shrubs and plant something reasonable? I started with a tree nursery, then began transplanting tree seedlings shortly afterwards into the blocks that were initially wasted with scrubs and shrubs. Meanwhile I did odd jobs like digging, slashing and doing errands for some neighbours for sustenance. I was amazed as I watched my trees grow rapidly! Of course, I did take care of them, irrigating all, weeding all and pruning some. Currently, my hut is surrounded by healthy trees, evergreen and ever-growing. A cool environment to live in! At around 5:30am daily, birds wake me up with mixed melodious chirps. During the day I like to watch them perch and make or mend nests on various branches. When they are really hungry or thirsty, they come down and help themselves with leftovers from my chicken feeders and drinkers scattered around the homestead. That’s how life goes on under the trees I planted. In deed planting trees is a rewarding exercise in the long run..

In my country, we always plant trees. Especially the ministers whenever there is an outdoor event.

It is nice to plant trees if you own the property. Or someone pay you to plant the trees. Otherwise it is just a waste of time.

I really enjoy watching things grow. I'd like to have a garden again. Some fruit trees would be great.

I believe so. Not done by many who are lazy most of the time.

Good for you. I'm glad your trees are thriving. It is certainly a cooler environment if there are trees around your house.
