Along with the songs from the year of my birth, I’m celebrating my birthday this month with songs that are a “mere” 60 years old now. You may hear this on the radio this weekend and be totally oblivious to the fact that it’s that…seasoned. This song isn’t old, it’s timeless! Here’s today’s 1965 hit.
Get Off of My Cloud - The Rolling Stones
The guy who played in House MD was sitting on Dennis Weaver. Mick Jagger walked by and said, “Hey! Hugh! Get off of McCloud!”
(I’ll be here all weekend. Tip your wait staff, drive home safely.
)
Yes, the Stones have been at it for over 60 years now. And that means that people whose parents weren’t born 60 years ago are singing along with this. That’s pretty stinking amazing.
Hooray for the Stones. Never too old to rock and roll.
Get Off of My Cloud
Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
Recorded by The Rolling Stones
Released as a single, 1965

A definite Stones fan. I recall this song. Are they still performing? They must be in their 80s by now.

Not a favorite; but it's from the 60s so I'll take it.

“It’s from the 60s and it’s not country.”
