Travelling Through Roughly

Had to travel through the city during rush hours. Travelling down from my home station Kanchrapara to Sealdah terminus was not all that bad but train trip from Sealdah South to Tollygunge was hellish. There was not an inch gap between two commuters in the bogie three of us were. The temperature was anywhere 35 to 37 degrees Celsius. Noisy and smelly. People literally breathing down on you. Nasty and ready to quarrel on a petty point.
I lived in the city as a student for eleven years. Then three more years working for a church. The noise, the dust, the smoke and all the toxicity makes you a hardened soul. People, especially of the poorer section bear everything up and live on. They find a way to survive through the hardships. If you ever visited our city you would understand what I mean.
Today we are returning home. We have decided to travel by a train which would be comparatively less crowded, though we will have to hop into another train for a short distance.
Whatever.
Glad to be on the way back home.

Once you're in a crowded, smelly train, you're stuck until you reach your destination. Getting home will be such a relief.

I hope your trip home is much nicer than the trip there. Good luck!
