Is it time for The Horse to take a hike?

I have been kind of lazy recently. Not much cycling. Not much hiking. My left knee has been wonky, and I don't want to be evacuated by some helicopter from some distant location. At the same time, I cannot live by music alone. The hills are emerald green right now, and it may be time to get off and on: Off my ass and on my feet. Is it time?

I was going to say - about your knee - that you had a legit excuse. If your knee is feeling pretty good now, maybe it's time to test the waters - or the hiking hills anyway. Start flat and build your way up . . . stop when your knee starts complaining (but not to to the point where it's yelling). You know uphill and downhill muscles are different - just be careful testing out the limits. Soak in that vitamin D in too!

That's probably my strategy. Start slow and build up.

I don’t tell people who aren’t politicians to “take a hike.”

Now is as good as any other time, especially as those hills are SO green. Are they alive with music, too?

You can take one block hikes several times a day. That´s what I´m doing. My eldest daughter is fond of trekking now. Fortunatly her friends have her same age (around 60 years old) so they walk a bit and take pictures.

I'd say certainly time for at least some short walks. We need to walk more. We seem to be getting more and more unfit - or maybe we're just getting older.

Take it a little bit at a time. Be aware of your knee and your capacity. Since it's been a while, we don't want you to have to be airlifted out of the hills.
