Oh, well, back to the country music. Relax, only one of the two songs I’ll feature today is country. So if you don’t like country music (looking toward Ohio ) run over to the 1965 song! Happy 65th birthday to this gem. Just One Time - Don Gibson At least you know a Don Gibson song. He wrote “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” which Ray Charles had a hit with. He also wrote one of Patsy Cline’s signature songs, “Sweet Dreams (Of You).” I always enjoyed Gibson’s work, both as a songwriter and a singer. (Eddie Raven once told me about Gibson covering Raven’s song “Touch the Morning,” and even sang the extra verse that Gibson omitted!) This wasn’t his biggest hit (without looking I’d say that was “Oh, Lonesome Me”) but that never mattered to me!
