Chase Benoit and Jared Hanson who are inmates at the San Quentin Prison in California recently reunited with two Black Labrador retrievers that they raised from prison when the service dogs were just puppies on Friday at the prison courtyard which was a tearful reunion. The names of the service dogs are Wendel and Artemis who were trained as pups by Chase and Jared respectively were trained by the inmates when the prison started a puppy training program in 2013. I like this idea of a puppy training program since it gives the inmates a purpose in life behind bars. Thanks to Canine Companions who started this program to have the inmates train puppies for a period of at least one year before the puppies reach the age of 16 and 17 month of age. Artemis was assigned to take care of Benjamin Carter who is a veterinarian who resides in Portland Oregon and Robert Quigley who is deaf was given Wendel to take care of him. Both Robert and Benjamin went to San Quentin to meet their former owners. Link is koat.com/en-us/news/off...

@celticeagle That is true since prison life is slow inside of a cell.

It is good to see inmates willingly doing something useful while inside.

Very bittersweet. I would get attached to the dogs and wouldn't want to give them up.
