I love to scrapbook and everyone that sees my scapbooks loves them. Well I was asked to make a baby scrapbook for someone. She will pay for the cost of the supplies and for my time. As far as my time involved, I am going to charge an amount for each page completed. If anyone has done this before, what would be a good price to charge per page completed?

I haven't done this but I just had to respond. I too love scrapbooking. That is when I have time. I just love how there are so many things you can do with a page. Good luck with that baby book.

One formula for pricing artwork is amount of time x amount you should be making as an artist/craftsperson x cost of materials.
So if a page took you one hour, and minimum wage in your state is $7.00, and you want $7.00 more for being a trained professional, that would be $14 per page plus cost of materials.
Agree to make one page at that price. Then re-evaluate how that worked out for you and raise or lower the price accordingly. For example, maybe the page only took 30 minutes.
Remember, most people don't do scrapbooking because they don't have the time or skills. So don't be afraid to ask for what you are worth.

Thank you for your ideas. Yes you are right, most people say that they don't have the time or the skills to scrapbook. I know that my work is good. I just don't want to feel like I am charging too much. Because of that I am afraid I will underprice myself.

I agree, because we are not doing it "professionally", we tend to undervaluate what our time is worth. I have been in similar situations when doing calligraphy work and my 3D paper artwork. And I agree with the poster who makes a very valid point that the people do not have time/skills to do this wonderful craft. Make sure you are at the very least getting minimum wage for your talent and time.

I have done it before, but I never use a set rate per page. Some people simply want more complex pages than others. The best thing to do is to evaluate the amount of time it will take you to complete the album based on the customer's preference and price it based on that.
