Is it good to be an open book to people close to you?

Or is it ok to have a few secrets?
I confined to one family member over an issue that troubled me and instead of understanding me and supporting, i met myself with a negativity. Not even a phone call to hear my voice, to ask me am i good.
No, nothing like that but i am expected to rise above and understand this person. I am feeling disappointed and i can't confide or have a realtionship with the person that doesn't support me and makes me feel small and thinking i'm not serious. Through my whole life, i kept quiet and when i finally spoke up and thought people will be happy when i share things with them, they are not on my side.
Yeah.good to know on whom to count on or not.

I am sorry that you are feeling that way. I can relate to that as I have been there feeling hurt. There is nothing wrong in being an open book or a secretive person, we are the way we are. And with such bitter experiences, we learn to be more cautious in future. But don't let it self doubt yourself. You are one of your kind and precious in your own way.

not sure am i precise anymore; i feel very unhappy, like a ghost wandering the world and only waiting to get old. i won't ever confide to anyone again after this, i experienced so much biterness when people used everything i told them in confidence against me and in very negative words. it's like i never had a voice, they took it all and left me like a broken thing. thank you for your kind words, i really appreciate it. maybe this sadness that i'm feeling will pass, maybe.

@grenery8 I am sorry that you are so hurt and feeling that way. Some hurts are deep and don't go away easily. Time is the only healer. Give yourself time to heal and try to distract yourself with something that you enjoy. We don't need to suffer because of wrong doings of others. Take care

It just depends on the person and the type of information you're thinking about confiding with the person.
Honestly, in the case we were talking about earlier, I think I wouldn't bother telling that person anything else and talk to a friend, instead. Most people will be understanding and, even if they disagree with you, they'll tell you nicely why they disagree. You're allowed to keep secrets if you want.

i won't confide to anyone after this. i have no friends and if i got them or a husband, i will never tell. msot of my life, everyone was using things against me. i don't want that for myself anymore. thank you for your kind words, i know you mean well. and i blocked the person. i can't with her, not anymore.

As far as being an open book, I would say if you can trust them to keep your conversations in private, just among the two of you it is ok. If they are not supportive of your feelings, then I would no longer confide in them. Sometimes you find out the hard way.

I know that was disappointing to you. It's hard to find a friend or relative who will be supportive. I know you're referring to people, but Jesus is my best friend, He never lets me down.
