I think Kilmar Abrego Garcia is dead

That's why the Trump administration is fighting so hard against a judge's order to bring him back to the US. He was a legal resident of the country and protected from deportation since 2019. He was deported in a supposed "clerical error" on March 15. As he is a citizen of El Salvador the Trump administration claimed that they couldn't get him back from that country's prison. The whole point of him being granted asylum here was that there was a very real threat that he would be tortured and killed in his home country. JD Vance, Pam Bondi, and that new blonde bobblehead at the podium in the press room have all defended what happened and said that he shouldn't be returned here.
A federal judge ruled that Garcia must be returned to the US by last night. The DOJ appealed to the US Supreme Court who ruled yesterday that he did not have to be returned by that deadline but that Garcia's team must file a response by 5pm tonight. No word on that just yet.
Why is the Trump administration fighting so hard to not have to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the US after they have all admitted that the deportation was a mistake? They are all doubling down on the fact that the guy was in a gang in El Salvador but he has not known to have or suspected of committing any crimes here in the US.
My best guess is that Garcia is already dead. He was granted asylum because there was a very strong chance that would happen if he was deported to El Salvador. Trump would rather walk over hot coals while chewing glass and having his fingernails pulled out instead of admitting that they made a mistake. He is just going to keep fighting and hoping that the conservative majority on the court will back him up. Honestly, though, there is no guarantee that they will.
