Spring allergist appointment is done! Hooray! Now if I could just get my allergies to cooperate.
The music will always cooperate. Let’s continue to celebrate my birthday (if you’re interested, I take a size Key West condo
) with a look at songs that turn 60 this year!
The Kids Are Alright - The Who
Yeah, it’s quite a top ten if these guys didn’t make the top ten!!
Conventional wisdom would have said to use “My Generation,” with its “I hope I die before I get old” proclamation. Well, Pete and Roger didn’t (thank God!), so I’ll celebrate them with a less rowdy song. (And anyway, when have I ever been conventional OR wise?
)
I don’t know if you saw, but Roger Daltrey announced that he’s losing both his hearing and eyesight. Townshend’s hearing went bye-bye a long time ago. I suppose the touring days for The Who are over. But oh, what a great legacy of music they’ve given us!
The Kids Are Alright
Written by Pete Townshend
Recorded by The Who
From The Who Sing My Generation, 1965
If I don’t I’ll go out of my mind:

This one doesn't ring a bell at all. Have you ever done a countdown of TV and movie themes? The Bond movies had some dynamite songs.

I have! For three months. TV shows, Oscar-nominated songs, and songs in movies that weren’t nominated (like some of the referenced Bond themes…”Goldfinger” didn’t get nominated for an Academy Award.
).
And before you say anything about yourself, remember, you’ve had way, way too much to deal with the past year.

@FourWalls Right now I'm juggling several contractors at once. All kinds of projects being done.

I’ve lived with health issues all my life, so I guess I’m “used to them” now that I’m older. Maybe that’s a blessing: people who have “always” been healthy are having to adjust to being less so at 65, and meanwhile I’m feeling better than I did 20 years ago!

As I’ve been saying, it’s not to make anyone feel old…but yes, The Who go back to 1965.

Age will do it. Sixty years of loud rock and roll will do it. Put the two together and…huh? I can’t hear you!

What not My Generation. Well, you certainly caused a big s-s-sensation by choosing "The Kids Are Alright." But an excellent choice I must say with that rich energetic style reminiscent of their early style.

I think everyone knows “My Generation,” and this shows they were more than just that song (which, occasionally, people need to be reminded of).
