Another attempt at impeachment?

I have been reading about some in congress I guess who is trying to impeach Trump again. I have always said I don’t know a lot about politics, but I really don’t understand the point of impeachment. He stayed in the office last time, so I guess you don’t get kicked out of office, does he get a fine or something? I don’t understand the point of doing it. I would guess that it is costing us money for these people to be wasting time. Could they be working on something else? Maybe one of you knows better than I do. Or is it just another orange man bad thing like his last term? They just want to do it because they don’t like him? I’m not even sure what the reason is that they are trying to do it. Then again, the last few times I was not too sure why they did it. I still say both sides pick some wasteful things to do with their time when there are so many things they could be working on. I guess we will see if this one is any different than the last who knows how many times they have brought this up.

It wasn't just about not liking him. He tried to extort Ukraine and he incited an insurrection to prevent the certification of Joe Biden's election win. Neither stood a chance with a Republican majority in the Senate and almost none of the GOP Representatives or Senators had the spine to vote against him. They knew what would happen--look what happened to those who did. Look at what happened to Republicans Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for serving on the House Select Committee. There probably were enough Republicans who wanted to vote for impeachment but they were too much of a *p-word* to actually do it. My guess is that this new discussion is about the irresponsible tariff insanity and/or the insider trading related to it. It will go nowhere.

The peaceful demonstrations are you referring to? I still don't really understand the point of an impeachment like does her get in some kind of trouble or is it just a fancy way of saying we don't like you or what you are or were doing?

@Bensen32 HAHAHA Those peaceful demonstrations on the "day of love" where MAGA supporters beat the hell out of US Capitol police? If the Senate voted to convict then Trump would be removed from office. Not gonna happen with these jellyfish.

Don't quote me on this, but impetchment has been attempted somewhere around eight times, over different presidents, and only successful twice. More often then not, it fails because the legal ground for it falls apart. Like when they tried to impeach Trump over something he may or may not have said during the Jan 6 incident. It failed. If an impeachment were to succeed, the current sitting president, (in this case trump), would be removed from the Ovel office, and the VP (in this case,) Vance would take over. In the end of the day, it's a long tedious legal process and, again was only successful twice. And, it's not unusual for congress to try to impeach presidents. And most of those who've impeached (or tried) were republicans. Again it's another one of those blue vs red things.

@kaylachan Right. They liked him before when he was just a rich guy, but now that he got his way in and not part of the "club" that hate him.

Seems a waste of time and money but leave it to Dems to do it over and over again.

At the end of the day, some are above the law. It is only a wasted effort.

There was no reason behind any of the first impeachments. It's become a joke, really. All you have to do is disagree with someone and they should be impeached. It's really become ridiculous.

I agree. Seems they like wasting time and money just to try and make him look bad and for what? Maybe work on actually making the country better or helping the average joe/jill of America.
