Yes I live on the mainland right across from the barrier island that has Lavalette, Bay Head, Seaside Heights, and Seaside Park. My beloved dad grew up in Seaside Heights during summers and lived over his parents' legendary bar--The Chatterbox. He grew up there surfing, working as an umbrella employee, and generally just getting into shenanigans.
He loved the ocean and would swim in it every time he was there. . . unfortunately when the waves were awful a year and a half ago he had a tragic accident. None of us are over it and we are still trying to process it. I've posted about what happened already.
The Seaside Heights boardwalk was being replaced--at least parts of it. People could buy a board and have their message inscribed. This one made me cry when I saw it. I hope that it is near where his parents' bar was but in any case my Dad is part of the boardwalk now. He would be happy about that.

That was so nice! Gone, but not forgotten. My dad is a real sweetheart of a guy too. Although he has always kept to himself..so not sure how many people he interacted with in his day are even alive any more.
