I just returned from my 9th trip to Disney World of the year, a visit to Epcot for their International Flower and Garden Festival. But I didn't go to see flowers (although they were beautiful), I went for the food!
Part of the fun of the festivals Disney puts on each year is the food. which I think can be a signature event all to itself (although it is in a way when they offer the Food and Wine Festival). This year's Flower & Garden Festival offers 24 food kiosks set up throughout the theme park. As always, it is our goal to "eat around the world" each time we go, knowing full well that we can't sample every offering they have. But that doesn't stop us from trying!
Here's what we ate this visit (with the name of the kiosk listed first):
1. Brunchcot at World Discovery: Avocado toast, Shrimp &Grits, Biscuit & Gravy, and Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites. For drinks my gf had a Fruit Cereal Shake and I had a Coffee Blonde Ale.
2. Citrus Blossom at The Odyssey: Orange-Sesame Tempura Shrimp. Drinks were an Orange-Lemon Smoothie for her and a Lemon Meringue Blonde Fruit Beer for me.
3. Trowel & Trellis at Disney Traders: Glazed Pork Sticky Ribs, Farmhouse Meatball Wrap and Chocolate Mousse Terrarium. For the drink we shared a Cucumber Lime Gose.
4. Jardin de Fiestas at Mexico Pavilion: We skipped the food and went for a Elderflower-Cucumber Margarita
5. Lan Yuan at China Pavilion: Cheesy Crab Wontons. For the drink we shared a Dragon Dynasty Piña Colada.
6. Bauermarkt at Germany Pavilion: I had a Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier (can anyone tell me how to pronounce that? LOL)
7. Primavera Kitchen at Italy Pavilion: Chocolate Dirt Cannoli. She had a Moscato and I had a Blood Orange Margarita.
8. Magnolia Terrace at The American Adventure Pavilion: Grilled Gulf Oysters. For the drink we shared a Spiced Rum Cocktail.
9. Hanami at Japan Pavilion: Takoyaki Octopus Balls (the octopus was actually cooked to perfection, which is hard to do!)
10. Tangerine Cafe at Morocco Pavilion: Garlic Aioli Kebabs. For a drink we shared a Pomegranate Mimosa.
Break Time! We stopped to watch a concert by the band Simple Plan, who I never heard of before, but they had the largest crowd I've ever seen at a Disney concert. After listening to them play, I decided that their music is awesome! And I learned that they sing the theme song to new Scooby Doo cartoon "What's New Scooby Doo?"
11. La Isla Fresca Kiosk: Jamaican Jerk Chicken and a Hurricane Class 5 Tropical Sangria.
12. Fleur de Lys at France Pavilion: Beignet Caramélisé
13. Northern Bloom at Canada Pavilion: Seared Scallops and Chocolate Maple Whiskey Cake. For the drink we shared a sparkling blackberry wine.
14. Refreshment Port at Canada Pavilion: Poutine. For the drink we shared a Frozen Mojito
Our pants were bursting at the seams after that, so we stopped eating/drinking and went and rode some rides, watched fireworks and then went back to our hotel.
Okay, I know it's hard sometimes to read long discussions, but I want to know out of all the food and drinks listed above what you think you would love the most, or what you would be interested in trying. So yes, you have to go back and read them! lol
The photo is a topiary of Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog from the Muppets. They have topiaries like this all over the park!

OMG, that is just a ton of rich food. Over how many days? Just one? Hopefully more than that!
A lot of it does sound really good. Hmm...Orange Tempura Shrimp, Cheesy Crab Wontons, Seared Scallops and the Chocolate Maple Whiskey Cake, the sticky pork ribs....the one thing I never would have touched is Takoyaki Octopus Balls. I know they are no doubt just Octopus concocted and cooked into a ball shape, but it took my mind to Rocky Mountain Oysters, and I can't go there--not EVER.
I am intrigued by the Beignet Caramélisé and the Chocolate Dirt Cannoli. Both sound wonderful, but not in the same day!
After all of this, did you just lie in bed the entire next day to recover?

@MarieCoyle There were three kiosks at the festival that were offering scallops; two of them we tried the last time we were at Disney, and the third we tried this time. There were grilled scallops, seared scallops and scallops that were part of a seafood gumbo.
I'm a huge fan of scallops, so I was in heaven!

@moffittjc Oh, all three of the scallop choices just sound delicious. My son in law grills a mean scallop or two...once in a while we have them as a big treat, here in the Midwest they are NOT cheap, especially if they are fresh. But oh, so heavenly!

Well, it's good that it was just sample sized portions, then. Even with your ability to inhale food, that would have been a lot if they were full sized meals!
Yes, the description of the Octopus Balls was a ''no way'' to me. But I don't really care for octopus, you can have my share. I do love scallops, they are just delicious!

@snowy22315 It was a very wise decision, in more than one way. The funny thing is, we didn't know about the bad hailstorm until after we got home. When we were driving back into town, all the streets, sidewalks, yards, etc were completely covered in leaves and branches. We were scratching our heads wondering what in the world happened! But we found out soon enough, as it was all over the news today.

OMG that is a lot of food. lol Better you than me, no amount of money or festivals could entice me to ever go to Disney again. Been there done that don't want to do it again, lol We went quite a few times with grandkids and alone and even did Disneyland which I have to say I like better but don't need to ever do again. I hope I do get to see you again though, I did enjoy our lunches. We did enjoy some of the restaurants at Epcot though.

@moffittjc I still have it but I do need to sell it. I just have memories there that I am not ready to face yet. Life is not the same without Al but I am doing well. If I am ever back down I will call you and maybe we can get together for lunch. lol as long as its not Disney lol

@BelleStarr You've got yourself a deal! I would be happy to have lunch with you again, and we can stay as far away from Disney as you'd like!
I'm glad you are doing well, and I know it's hard with Al not by your side. But I'm sure you are pouring out all your love on the rest of your family.

I am so glad to see you here! I was thinking about you the other day, I happened to drive by Ivey's on the way home from Crystal River, and I was reminded of that time we had lunch there! I hope you're doing well. Do you still have your Florida home, or did you sell it?

We had a wonderful time. I'm not a foodie by any means, but I can't ever resist any of Disney's festival food offerings. They are always so good to try, and it's a great way to experience foods from around the world in one place.
I love the photo as well, and there were lots and lots of other beauties around the park that I wish I would have taken more pictures of. But I was too busy eating and drinking to keep pulling my phone out of my pocket to take pictures! lol

@moffittjc I think its great when we are at an event that is so wonderful that you cannot spend any time fiddling for a phone. Those events are rare, but wonderful.

I knew you would appreciate the topiaries. I wish I would have taken more photos of them. Here is another photo I took of the flowers planted around a pond at the theme park.

Wow! That's a ton of food to eat. Two things that jumped out at me were the Biscuits and Gravy and the Cheesy Crab Wontons. Oh! And the Glazed Pork Sticky Ribs.

The crab wontons and the pork sticky ribs were amazing. I wasn't too impressed with the biscuits and gravy, because it basically looked like a sausage McMuffin from McDonald's that they slapped some gravy on. But it tasted okay. Overall, the food is always great, although sometimes I think a few of the kiosks take shortcuts for the sake of simplicity.

Did any of the foods in my list pique your interest?
I will have to say, there wasn't a bad thing on the menu, as far as taste was concerned. It was all delicious. And we only stopped at just over half of the food kiosks that were offered. We're going to have to plan a return trip soon to finish off the remaining kiosks we didn't stop at. But first, I think I need to burn off about 50,000 calories at the gym!

Really? None of them? What kind of festival food would you try?
