Six hands making light work of a task

We spent a night at my brother-in-law’s place. Our niece was playing in a brass band concert so we attended that on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, we helped him cut up a large pile of old pickets which will provide him with wood for his little ‘pig’ barbecue. He has a lot of other wood but much of it is green (unseasoned) so it won’t burn well until it has had a chance to dry out. The top photo shows the stacks of wood we had to cut up and the bottom photo shows our ‘modus operandi’. I passed each board to my BIL, he cut it into manageable lengths and Vince placed the pieces in the barrow. We had finished all of it in a few hours. The three of us have done a lot of small jobs over the years and some larger ones. We make a good team.

I'm glad the job went quickly. Working together can make a job either go faster or really slow down the works, depending on how well the "team" works together.

There are some people you can't work with in a way but the three of us manage to think the same way and cooperate really well.

It's not possible to work well with some people but with others, you think alike I guess and the work gets done quite easily.

Do you think I could think of the word 'assembly line' when I was writing this?? 'Chain gang' was the best I could come up with and I didn't like that so 'modus operandi' it had to be.

We've done a lot of projects over the years. The 'boys' sometimes have differing views but we get there in the end.

It looked a lot to start with but once we got going it didn't take too long. We stopped for a coffee in the middle.

It's very satisfying to complete such a task. Unfortunately the tasks can't be too taxing nowadays as we're all getting older.

It is much safer to work on large projects like that together, therefore nobody gets tired and has an accident.

It gets done so much quicker if you can organise yourselves.

We took turns on the drop-down saw as that was quite hard on your shoulder.
