Good Morning 4/14

Its overcast today. I am very worried about Nico, and consequently worried about me. The cat simply doesn't drink enough water, and consequently doesn't pee which is very dangerous. I think he has stones, but he is already on prescription cat food. The issue is he only likes it in dry form. I have tried tons of things to get him to drink. He will eat some wet food, but it isn't a favorite. I really, really don't want to take him to the vet because that will be several hundred dollars, and the last time was a total nightmare, and I was planning to get a car by early next week which won't happen if I rack up a huge vet bill. He has fountains, but the ones I have don't seem to work well, so I am going to try to put another one together this morning. I also have some wet food mixed in his dry. He loves dry food so much..I don't see how I could get him to eat just wet, and actually things seemed to be going fine last week..Now he is in this don't drink don't pee thing again. Maybe I will get him some bottled water today. That might help. Wish me luck, and say a prayer for me and Nico as we cope with this yet again!

We all worry so much about our pets. I do hope you're able to get him to drink more. Crossing my fingers, toes and eyes and sending prayers as well.

@allknowing Thanks, well if he urinates in the morning I will postpone it, but He hasn't had a lot of liquid today despite my best efforts. I hate this.

I think if he would just drink enough it would probably be fine.

I hope he drinks his water. I would think that the dry food would make him thirsty.

You would think. Some days he seems to drink more than others.

He seems to like it sometimes. He finds the new fountain interesting, but hasn't taken a drink yet. He did drink some other water this AM whether or not that is going to translate to peeing, I don't know yet.

Take him to the vet. And if he is ill, it does not matter what he LIKES to eat. The thing is what is healthy for him. We do that with children too. When he is hungry enough heĀ“ll eat wet food. But wet cat food is not enough. He must drink water. I would not mix the wet food with the dry one.

It is recommended to do, if your cat has a problem with wet food. Wet food is better than dry.If he is ill, it does matter what he LIKES to eat. Cats are different than dogs. They only eat what they like. He does need water, but wet food has much more water content than dry.

Thanks, I looked at his box..there was some wetness in there, but it didn't look to be recent. He had a bit of water this AM, and some of the wet food is mixed in. I have marshmellow root here in powder form which is a diuretic, I might mix that with some cat nip.
